Into the Woods
A debut collection about the two places we had left: the house, and whatever was within walking distance of it.
The Collection
DetailsInto the Woods came out of a time when most people's lives shrank to two settings: indoors, and whatever green space was close enough to walk to. Clothes had to work in both, and most of them didn't.
So the collection took the map literally. Ordnance Survey sheets of Donegal (Lough Swilly, Rathmelton, Manorcunningham) were printed across nylon outerwear and a matching cap, so the walk you were allowed became the thing you wore. Against it, white cotton shirting was pulled apart and rebuilt: collars opened out, tiered pleated skirts, sleeves split and drawn back together with cords and toggles.
It set the terms for everything since: construction you can see, cloth that improves with wearing, and nothing that only works standing still. It was shown at Brown Thomas Create in 2021, where it won the bursary.
